Yesterday was a good day…   My neighbor had an engagement party.   I usually avoid engagement parties but that was impossible because … well, they live next door; and they are good mammals so concessions were made. Parties where you know only the hosts and none of the guests are always strange.  Libation lubrication kicked in and not knowing anyone faded into the background.  With a good buzz we grabbed our bikes and headed out to the fixie competition. It trips me out that Ted Shred is back in town.  I remember when I was a kid, Ted and Black Dan were downtown fixtures.  They seemed old back then.  Ted had a feud with Dick Nibbler, the owner of 7-11.  That was entertainment to watch Ted get chased off the property while being sprayed with a hose.  Now, 25 years later Dick Nibbler has long since sold 7-11 and Ted Shred is organizing bike competitions in the parking lot across the street from 7-11. It was a good event.  Something Chico could use more of.  Maybe Ted will champion a bike swap. Remember, you heard it here first.
